AHA appoints Peter Burnett as new National President

The National Board of the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) has appointed Mr Peter Burnett as the new National President of the AHA. Martin Ferguson honoured by AHA and Treasury Wine Estates

Highly-respected former Federal Member of Parliament the Hon. Martin Ferguson AM was honoured by the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) and Treasury Wine Estates on November 4. AHA President Peter Burnett and Treasury Wine Estates Chief Executive Officer Warwick Every-Burns presented Mr Ferguson as the inaugural winner of the Treasury Wine Estates and AHA ‘Services to the industry’ award at an AHA function in Melbourne in front of key industry leaders, MPs, Senators and key supporters. APPLICATION FOR CONSENT TO RULE CHANGES

Members are advised that on 27 November 2013, the AHA lodged an application with the General Manager of Fair Work Commission pursuant to Section 158A of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 (Cth) for her consent to the alteration of Rule 5 of the Rules of the AHA to add a new Sub Rule (3) that will extend the membership eligibility of the AHA to certain types of accommodation providers in New South Wales. The reason for the application is to ensure that the eligibility coverage of the AHA and that of its counterpart State Registered Organisation in NSW
