ELECTION NOTICE

Nominations are called for:

National Board

  • President (1)
  • Senior Vice-President (1)
  • Vice-President (1)
  • Secretary/Treasurer (1)

Nominations, which must be in writing and comply with the Association’s Rules may be lodged at the meeting of the Australian Hotels Association National Board to be held at Level 1,1 Little Collins Street, Melbourne on Monday 6 November 2017 at 8.30am AEDT.

Nominations cannot be withdrawn after the close of nominations is announced at the meeting.

How to lodge nominations

By hand: Australian Hotels Association Level 1, 1 Little Collins Street, Melbourne on Monday 6 November 2017 at 8.30am AEDT.
The ballot, if required, will be conducted at the meeting.

Proxy voting. If you will not be present at the meeting to vote in any election, you may, by written authorisation delivered to the Returning Officer prior to the commencement of the ballot, appoint another eligible voter to cast your vote. An ‘Appointment of Proxy’ form is available from the Returning Officer, or from the Organisation.

In accordance with Rule 16 National Board – Election of Officers by Postal Ballot if not all councillors are present at the meeting in person or by proxy the Returning Officer will proceed to conduct the election by post.

Notice to Members May 2017

Members are asked to note that as required by the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 (Cth) the Australian Electoral Commission has given the Association a Report about the last NAD Elections, and in which it suggests the Association amend Rules 16 and 42 to allow electronic lodgement of nominations by candidates.

That recommendation is accepted by the Association and amendments will be made later this year. The AEC’s Report and the Association’s response are available to members on request.

Notice of application to change rules with the Fair Work Commission

Notice of Alteration of Eligibility Rule

On 27 July 2016, the Australian Hotels Association lodged a notice pursuant to s.158 (1) of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 for consent to the alteration of the eligibility rule in the Rules of the Australian Hotels Association.

Notice of Alteration of Other Rules

On 27 July 2016, the Australian Hotels Association lodged two notices pursuant to s.159 (1) of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 for the certification of alterations of various rules (other than the eligibility rule) in the Rules of the Australian Hotels Association.
